| Introduction:
The Washington D.C. Chapter of the Friends of Germany's Christian Democratic Union
Thank you for visiting and welcome to the webpages of the Washington D.C. Chapter of the Friends of Germany's Christian Democratic Union (the 'CDU-DC chapter')!
We would be very interested to hear from you if you would like to participate in our chapter and contribute your skills and experiences. Regardless of whether you are an office-holder, party member, German, American or simply just interested, our door is always open.
Founded in 2004, the CDU-DC chapter provides a network of CDU/CSU members and those interested in German politics. Many of our members have lived in the U.S. for long periods of time, whereas others are here on a temporary basis. We meet regularly - often with distinguished guests from Germany, Brussels, or the U.S. - to discuss political and social developments on both sides of the Atlantic and exhange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere.
Being in Washington means that we have an opportunity to actively develop and maintain a contacts with U.S. opinion-leaders, politicians, campaign strategists, lobbyists, congressional staffers, think tank scholars and others. In fact, interacting with and facilitating contacts to D.C.'s political community is central aspect of what we do. As such, we are able to provide CDU-party headquarters with access to the expertise and networks of our members while providing a forum for Americans that are curious as to the political developments in Germany and Europe.
The special relation between German and the United States - and the CDU's vital interest in maintenance - means that our members are often asked to opine about our impressions as to the state of the transatlantic relationship. Since our inception, our suggestions and analyses have continuously played a role in shaping CDU policy toward it.
We invite you to take up contact with us and look forward to hearing from you. For more information please email: info@cdu-dc.org
